Universal Protection Service, Santa Ana, Calif., is under new ownership. Brian Cescolini and Steve Jones became the sole owners of the company on Jan. 1. Cescolini will continue to lead as the company's president and CEO, and Jones will remain as the executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Agreements

Casey Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Synergx Systems Inc., Syosset, N.Y., has selected the Digital Matrix Storage Switch (DMSS) from Steelbox Networks Inc., Atlanta, to deliver a network video solution to the New York City Transit Authority. The DMSS will be installed in 32 stations as part of the Transit Authority's station security, communication and upgrade project.

Lenovo Group Ltd., Purchase, N.Y., and Avaya Inc., Basking Ridge, N.J., will collaborate to enhance IP communications on IBM ThinkPad notebooks. Lenovo's integrated fingerprint reader and Password Manager technologies will support Avaya's IP Softphone solution in a combination that aims to prevent unauthorized calls from the PC and unauthorized access to the user's contact list and call history.

Experian, Costa Mesa, Calif., has entered into a joint technology sharing and marketing referral agreement with US Biometrics, Naperville, Ill., in which the two companies will pursue joint product development efforts and refer their respective products and services to their existing client base.

C&C Security Inc., Harrisburg, Pa., has signed a reseller agreement with Entry-Master Systems Inc., Baltimore, to provide delivery, installation and technical support for all existing and new Entry-Master clients in Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia and Southern Virginia.

ioimage, Herzliya, Israel, has partnered with Micron Technology, Boise, Idaho, to develop a 3-megapixel IP security camera with built-in analytics

Integral Technologies, Indianapolis, has formed a strategic partnership with American Power Conversion,West Kingston, R.I. Together, the companies will offer security solutions that improve equipment reliability, increase system uptime, offer preventative system maintenance and lower the cost of equipment ownership.

Websense Inc.'s subsidiary, Websense SC Operations Limited, has made a pre-conditional cash offer to acquire all shares of SurfControl PLC, Scotts Valley, Calif.

Pixim, Inc., Mountain View, Calif., and Vectronics Ltd., Israel, have partnered to distribute Pixim's chipsets and video surveillance camera reference design in Israel. Vectronics is a representative and distributor for international semiconductor companies in the Israeli market.

New Jersey-based A.C. Daughtry Inc. was selected by Honeywell, Morristown, N.J. as an authorized dealer for Commercial Security Systems. A.C. Daughtry develops integrated security systems that blend products with IP-network connections for commercial and industrial customers.

Active Response Monitoring, Denver, has begun operations in the United States to offer its monitoring, notification and video services platform to security dealers and partners. The company is in the process of hiring sales staff throughout the U.S.

Digital Monitoring Products (DMP), Springfield, Mo., has received the UL636 Holdup Alarm Units and Systems listing for its 1142 Two-Button Holdup Transmitter. The device transmits silent alarms in retail, banking and institutional applications.

Middle Atlantic Products, Fairfield, N.J., named I.D.M.C. Inc., Arlington, Texas, its 2006 Security Rep of the Year.

Edentify Inc., Bethlehem, Pa., has embarked on the second phase of its identity fraud research partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). During this phase, two Edentify executives will provide direction and oversight to a three-student computer science team in NJIT's Capstone Program. The students seek to identify vulnerabilities in current identity security systems, conceptualize solutions and resolve weaknesses.
