Cyber-security companies form alliance

Eleven security companies have joined forces to create the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA), designed to push for policy initiatives, public-sector partnerships, educational programs and industry technology standards.
Executive director Paul Kurtz, former Homeland Security Council member and senior director for National Security of the Office of Cyberspace Security, told NewsFactor that the primary objective is to bring IT security experts together so that they can speak with one voice. "We will identify common concerns and issues and work toward influencing government as legislation is developed," Kurtz says, "and also work with international security organizations."
Among the more pressing issues, he said, are information-sharing vulnerabilities, the efficiency of existing security products, and education.
He points to the need for early warning of cyber-attacks and to establish security standards.
Among the 11 founding members are Computer Associates, Internet Security Systems, Network Associates and Symantec.
