DHS encourages investment in technologies with Safety Act

The Department of Homeland Security has moved to implement an act granting many companies protection from lawsuits if they invest in developing and deploying qualified anti-terrorism techniques.
The Support Anti-Terrorism By Fostering Effective Technologies, or Safety Act, was enacted by Congress last year, and follows the same principles as Good Samaritan laws. The law's supporters say it will motivate further investment in anti-terrorism technologies.
The Homeland Security secretary would determine if a company's anti-terrorism technology is considered qualified. To receive a designation, it would be evaluated against a multi-criteria list.
