President Bush cautioned during his State of the Union address that there were diagrams of American nuclear power plants found in Afghanistan. One power plant in Florida, however, isn't planning any more security upgrades.

Mac Harris, spokesman for Florida Power, told The St. Petersburg Times that "we're already at our highest awareness" at the Crystal River Energy Complex. "It shows what we did was reasonably prudent," he continued, "but it doesn't mean we should take additional action."

The same day Harris issued the statement, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission alerted all of the U.S. power plants that terrorists may be planning an airplane attack on a nuclear reactor.

One Washington organization has publicly said the recent disclosures warrant 24-hour military protection at all plants. The Nuclear Control Institute also called for anti-aircraft weapons to be set up at all facilities.

Security already in place at Crystal River includes concrete barriers and tighter screening procedures at all entrances and exits.
