A new security threat has been brought to the attention of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), identifying a critical loophole in the areas of contract and service providers at U.S. airports.

There are currently are no regulations in place to enforce qualification criteria for vendors -- such as food and retail concession companies, in-flight providers or rental car companies -- that service airports. This loophole leaves airports vulnerable to security protocol in highly secure areas of the airports that provide direct access to airplanes and airways.

This information was brought to light by CA One Services, Inc., a food service and retail provider with operations in more than 30 airports. The company has initiated an urgent national effort to close this loophole, starting with informing the TSA.
