The bill was jointly introduced by Senators Carl Levin (D-Mich.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.).
"Private security officers outnumber public law enforcement by 3-to-1. We need to know as much as possible about the backgrounds of the individuals who are increasingly charged with protecting vital industry and infrastructures," says Ira A. Lipman, chairman of Guardsmark.
