President Bush has appointed several key staff members to the Department of Homeland Security.

Steve Cooper has been named Chief Information Officer. The Senate is also scheduled to confirm Tom Ridge's appointment as Homeland Security secretary and Gordon England as deputy secretary.

Bush is also expected to name Mike Brown, deputy director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to oversee disaster and emergency planning for the new department.
