Houston stadium readies for Super Bowl
Jan 22, 2004 12:00 PM
Security screening at Houston's Reliant Stadium will be significantly heightened for Super Bowl XXXVIII, officials say. Many items usually permitted in NFL events will not be allowed into the Super Bowl. Prohibited items will not be held and returned later to spectators.
The long list of prohibited items include weapons, knives and explosives, fireworks, camcorders, umbrellas, strollers, beach balls, frisbees, sticks, laser lights and pointers, coolers, backpacks, bottles, cans, hairspray, camera, binocular cases and tripods, mace, pepper spray, banners, noisemakers and horns.
Spectators are also strongly urged to not take electronic devices of any kind into the stadium. Any electronic device will be thoroughly inspected, causing delays.
Security screening will begin at 1 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, so ticketholders are encouraged to come early to avoid lines.
