Most Americans are willing to pay for better aviation and airport security, according to a poll released by The Opinion Research Group on behalf of the American Automobile Association.
The poll of more than 1,000 adults indicated that 87 percent would be willing to pay more money for a round-trip ticket to offset the costs of safety devices, such as explosives detection equipment. Half of those said they would pay $10 or more for such safety measures.
Fifty-one percent of respondents said they would have more confidence in airport and in-flight security if Congress would allow pilots to carry guns into the cockpit.
