Incoming Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) says he has the votes to pass Homeland Security legislation and believes it may happen this week.
"We hope that by Tuesday or Wednesday we could have a bill that would be passed in the Senate by a wide margin," Lott said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Lott's admission comes on the hells of a Presidential ultimatum last weekend concerning the proposed Department of Homeland Security. Says President Bush: It is imperative that the congress send me a bill that I can sign beofre the (current) 107th Congress ends."
