Public venue operators invited to conference
Aug 26, 2003 12:00 PM
Addressing fears among venue operators and major event organizers that terrorists may choose to attack, WCBF's Security Intelligence Divison has announced a conference for companies responsible for staging live entertainment, leisure, public or sports events to discuss practical strategies for preventing and preparing for such attacks.
Counter-Terrorism Strategies for Live Events, Stadiums, Arenas and Facilities will be held October 28 and 29 in Chicago. Keynote speaker Dr. Peter Ryan, security director for the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, ATHENS 2004, will examine key security lessons that have been experienced from previous Games in Sydney and Salt Lake City, and what the new risks are for venue operators, stadium owners and managers.
Participants will learn about and discuss best practice security procedures and initiatives, threat levels, risks and future initiatives to improve communications between government intelligence, law enforcement agencies and the private sector.
