School superintendent turns to Secret Service for help
Aug 13, 2003 12:00 PM
With school starting next week, Orleans Parish School Superintendent Anthony Amato and the area's chief of police have asked local Secret Service agents for security training and advice.
The Louisiana agents will train school leaders in safety techniques and act as a consultant to advise local law enforcement and school officials about how to stop different kinds of violent acts.
Agents will also hold classes for teachers and parents, stressing how to handle violent students, security breaches, and how to communicate effectively during an emergency situation.
