The U.S. Open tennis tournament, which started Monday, will have stricter security measures than ever.

Spectators at the two-week event held at Flushing Meadows, N.Y., will not be allowed to bring video cameras or backpacks into the venues. Uniformed and undercover police will also be added, but event organizers would not indicate how many.

Last year's U.S. Open ended two days before the Sept. 11 attacks.
