Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) has introduced legislation to improve the databases involving state-issued driver's licenses.

It was one of several security technology-related bills introduced in Congress last week. Sen. John Warner's (R-Va.) bill would exempt government contractors from liability involving technologies and services sold to the government for homeland security purposes.

The issue of the deadline for installing explosives detection devices at airports continues to be debated, with a bill to require all airports unable to meet the Dec. 31 deadline issue reports to Congress detailing their progress.
