Participants at The Terrorism Research Center's (TRC) "Terrorism: Threats, Tactics, Training and Technology," recently had the chance to get hands-on training and learn from experts focused on terrorist attack profiles, training and tactics, emerging technologies, cyber-terrorism and aviation security threat information.

A first-hand account of terrorist training and tactics from Aukai Collins, the first American in the Khalid bin Walid training camp in Afghanistan, was a feature of the seminar. Participants examined domestic and international terrorist threats; weapons available to terrorists and measures to deter, defeat and mitigate attacks; suicide bombers and security considerations they pose for special events; and aviation security issues for law enforcement officers.

The seminar, held Aug. 12-13, was co-sponsored by the Metro-Boston Transit Authority. It was aimed at first responders and emergency planners.

"Together with our distinguished speakers, we gave first responders and emergency planners the information and tools they need to keep our citizens, borders, and critical infrastructure safe," said TRC director Matthew Devost.
