U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta has announced that $8.4 million in federal grants have been awarded to Orlando International Airport for security improvements and other applications.
Orlando International received $5.6 million to acquire security equipment, $2.3 million to acquire land to alleviate noise impacts, and $465,900 to replace an aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle.
The grants came from the Airport Improvement Program of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.
