SEMS (Scott Electronic Management System) integrates a motion sensor device with a transceiver to send and receive critical information between individual firefighters and a command station. The system can display who is in the building, how long they have their breathing equipment activated, what their tank pressure is and whether or not they need assistance.
The transceiver automatically informs a command station of a low-air warning, new cylinder installation, firefighter immobility, self-evacuation or injury and out-of-range status. It also permits audible and visual signals to be communicated between the command station and the firefighter for identification, status reporting or evacuation. Confirmation signals from individual firefighters allow commanders to strategically plan the use of personnel, effectively replace attack teams or notify them to begin search and rescue efforts.
