The ASIS Commission on Standards and Guidelines is soliciting comments on suggested revisions to the Threat Advisory System Response Guideline. The TASR Guideline, up for a 60-day public review-and-comment period, was first published in 2004. All ASIS Guidelines are re-evaluated every three years, with the possibility of revision, if warranted.

To provide input, go to the Guidelines section of the ASIS Web site here. Comments must be submitted by Feb. 1, 2008. The TASR Guideline can be downloaded, free of charge, on the site.

Private businesses and industry, as the principal providers of goods and services and the owners of approximately 85 percent of the U.S. infrastructure, play a significant role in helping to mitigate the physical effects and economic costs of domestic incidents. Business and industry collaboration with government and other organizations is essential for protecting and restoring the nation's critical infrastructure in the event of an incident.

ASIS developed the TASR Guideline as an initiative to provide the private sector a tool to prompt consideration of possible actions that could be implemented based on elevated alert levels announced by the Department of Homeland Security. The Guideline, in conjunction with the Homeland Security Advisory System, is intended as a recommended baseline to derive ultimate threat responses.
