Nike Puts Clamps on Tiger Center
Oct 1, 2003 12:00 PM
At Nike World Headquarters in Portland, Ore., door hardware throughout the Tiger Woods Center was planned to support the building's diverse functions. The nearly 160,000-square-foot Tiger Woods Center features a 770-seat theatre, which is used for Nike sales meetings, pre-line meetings and special corporate events.
Access control and ease of movement for large groups are functional priorities for the operation of the building, and a variety of exit devices play a major role. Doors to any of the larger meeting rooms that are required by code to have exit devices are equipped with Von Duprin 99 Series exit devices. Exteriors of the doors typically are equipped with Schlage L Series mortise locks.
Fire doors that protect corridors are normally kept open by electromagnetic hold-opens that release if the fire and smoke alarm system is activated. The LCN closers then shut the doors automatically. The Steelcraft hollow metal doors are equipped with Von Duprin INPact recessed exit devices. In addition to their aesthetics, these devices are smoothly contoured to resist damage from the catering carts that are used to serve the meeting rooms.
Other door hardware that helps control door operation and prevent damage includes LCN 4040, 2610 and 5020 Series door closers, as well as Glynn-Johnson flushbolts and coordinators.
Exterior doors are protected during non-business hours with proximity card readers and Locknetics 390 Series Powerlock magnetic locks.
