Following state approval as a digital recording system for Blackjack game surveillance, the Intellex digital video management system from American Dynamics, San Diego, has been selected for deployment at the Mazatzal Casino in Payson, Ariz.

Security officials at Mazatzal Casino first began their research into adding digital recording when the State of Arizona began considering a proposition to include Blackjack in casinos. Knowing that approval of the proposition would mean video surveillance would be required, the casino was prepared to make the switch.

“It's a big decision to go from traditional analog recording and archiving in casinos, to digital,” says David Trecek, vice president of sales and marketing for International Electronic Protection Ltd., Scottsdale, Ariz.,which provides technology support for the casino.

Every day, more than 2,500 people visit Mazatzal, and the casino uses more than 175 cameras and domes to provide surveillance for the 38,000-square-foot facility. Intellex is an intelligent digital video management system that combines multiplexing, alarm/event detection, audio, text, video recording and other features.
