Featuring simultaneous record and replay technologies and pre-trigger recording of event sequences leading to alarms, 2nd Eyes is a digital video recording system made by Primary Image, Surrey, England. Its scaleable architecture can be configured from one video input channel to almost unlimited expansion, according to the maker. Up to eight channels can be provided in a single module, and further modules can be added.
The SpeedDome LT is the entry-level addition to the SpeedDome video surveillance products. From Sensormatic Electronics Corp., Boca Raton, Fla., it is a small CCD camera with a 10X optical zoom and continuous autofocus. Available in NTSC and PAL formats and in color and black and white, it also features automatic back-light compensation and vertical and horizontal edge enhancement.
Appro Technology, Sunnyvale, Calif., has released a line of real-time, black-and-white and color quads. Features include: alarm detection; on-screen title, time and date; freeze on last picture before video loss; built-in time base correction; security lockout; high-resolution 1024x512; zoom on play-back on certain models; looping; and rack mount kit and optional remote control operation. The black-and-white units operate at 256 shades of gray and the color units at 16.7 million colors.
The SSC-C104 color CCD camera features a 1/3-inch HyperHAD interline transfer CCD and wide-range auto-tracking white balance (ATW) of 2,000 to 10,000 degrees K for excellent image quality, according to manufacturer Sony Electronics. It also features wide-range CCD iris function (1/69 to 1/100,000 second) with level control, back-light compensation and a selectable Turbo AGC feature for sensitivity of 1.0 lux at f1.2.
Kalatel receivers can be controlled from an American Dynamics matrix switcher/control system using the KTD-313 from Kalatel, Corvallis, Ore. The device can also be used to retrofit an existing American Dynamics headend to control Kalatel's CyberDome and receivers. The KTD-313 allows full-motion and variable speed control, as well as preset options for Kalatel preset receivers.
Anaheim, Calif.-based Navco offers its 3D imaging system free of charge to law enforcement agencies across the country. The system allows enhancement and manipulation of video captured during crimes. Navco can review footage gathered from crime scenes, digitize the material, and generate 3D images from static film to provide general descriptions and clear photographs to be used for identification. Profile photographs can be enhanced and developed into full-face representations, background images can be faded to add depth to key areas of emphasis, and slow frame speed can be achieved for review of sequential shots.
For systems with up to 256 cameras and 32 monitors, the VPS1466 digital control super-high-density matrix switching system from Vicon Industries, Hauppauge, N.Y., is a self-contained, full-featured digital control system and matrix switcher. It consists of one or more matrix 66 super-high-density card cages with an internal CPU, internal time/date/titling capabilities, an output amplifier and a variable number of video switcher cards. It can be operated by keypads and a host computer. Manual and sequential switching options are supported, and switching modes include salvo switching and sequencing salvos. Alarm processing software is included. Up to 128 pan/tilt and video guard-tour sequences of 32 steps each can be programmed and up to 32 tours can run concurrently. Alarm operation includes 512 alarm inputs.
Surge protectors from Miami-based Citel Inc. offer two levels of protection for CCTV equipment. The P8AX BNC 90V is designed for exposed applications such as an outdoor camera mounted on a pole. It uses a heavy-duty gas tube to protect equipment against lightning surges. The CXD is designed for office-type applications and uses a single stage of solid state. Both come with BNC connectors and a ground screw to attach a ground wire. F-type connectors are also available.
