Two new black-and-white cameras deliver cost efficiency and performance, according to manufacturer Panasonic Video Imaging Systems Co., Secaucus, N.J. According to Panasonic, the WV-BP330 1/3-inch CCD digital signal processing camera delivers 570 lines of horizontal resolution in 0.08 lux at F1.4 with a signal-to-noise ratio of 50dB. Features include digital backlight compensation, auto gain control, electronic light control, line lock, and vertical drive lock over a single coax cable. The WV-BP130 1/3-inch camera features 380 lines of resolution with a minimum scene illumination of 0.08 lux at F1.4 and includes electronic light control, auto gain control, backlight compensation, line lock and vertical drive lock, says the company.

The HV-D15 three-CCD color camera features a single-chip digital VLSI (very large scale integration), which provides video processing and encoding and can be remotely controlled from a PC. According to manufacturer Hitachi Denshi America, Woodbury, N.Y., applications include teleconferencing and remote observation. The 13-bit VLSI chip incorporates multiple functions - such as detail, color correction, noise reduction, color balance, shading and auto level control - with digital precision, says Hitachi. The camera's signal-to-noise ratio, 63dB NTSC and 61dB PAL, and dynamic range are complemented with 10-bit A/D converters and the digital processing. The camera features: three 1/2-inch, 410,000-pixel NTSC and 470,000-pixel PAL CCDs; double-sampled Y channel digital processing; 800 TV lines of resolution; and an illumination level of 1.01x.

The CCTV Flex Mount adds flexibility to camera installations by allowing a variety of snake-like bends, says maker PanaVise Products, Reno, Nev. The Flex Mount has a double-wound "flex" shaft, covered in a sheath of black vinyl. Once in position, the shaft holds its shape; a patented "pinch" design prevents it from coming loose, says PanaVise. It is available in 13- and 16-inch lengths.

The SHC-710NAD digital color CCD camera adapts to contrasting lighting the way the human eye does, says manufacturer Samsung Electronic Imaging, Secaucus, N.J. The camera uses "I Sight" technology to read the light level of each pixel in an image area precisely, and optimizes gain to view both light and dark areas clearly, says the maker. The compact, lightweight camera features a 1/2-inch color CCD with 480 lines of resolution and 410, 000 pixels. Its adaptive sensitivity provides a scene-illumination dynamic range of more than 60 dB. With sensitivity of 0.02 lux at F1.2, it is suited to low-light applications, says Samsung. Other features include automatic gain control, auto white balance and a built-in, two-zone digital motion detector.

Videolarm, Decatur, Ga., has introduced a tougher version of its CE20C indoor, surface-wedge housing, according to the company. The CEM20C is made of heavy-duty, 18-gauge steel, allowing it to be used in semi-protected outdoor applications such as an overhang, and in more hostile environments, such as prisons and schools. The window of the CEM20C is made of 3/16-inch Lexan and is bolted to the housing. Tamper-resistant screws provide additional security. The finish is an off-white powder coat, and a 24v AC, 25-watt heater with PC board is optional.

The KS328 32-camera-input, 8-monitor-output video matrix switcher and the KS164 16-camera input, 4-monitor-output video matrix switcher are new from Ultrak, Lewisville, Texas. These desktop or rack-mount units feature time/date/ titling overlays, sequential switching, telemetry control and programmable guard tours. Additional features include on-screen display, alarming inputs, video loss alarms and alarm call output for display or VCR recording. Both switchers are available in NSTC or PAL video formats. The PAL version is available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.

The QuickSilver DV202 transmitter, an upgrade to QuickSilver remote video transmission systems, is new from TeleSite U.S.A., Tenafly, N.J. The DV202 digital system offers faster transmission and higher resolution than previous models, says the maker. A plug-and-play system, it provides D-RAM storage for up to 6,000 pictures at the transmitter for playback to the receiver. It also has two modem connections to allow two users to view a remote site simultaneously. It is equipped with six video and six alarm inputs and is expandable to 48 video and 48 alarm inputs. Two onboard relay outputs can be used for remote functions, and up to 96 additional relays are available. The DV202 is furnished with a "video out" to enable recording or monitoring at the remote site, and it operates over standard POTS, ISDN, T1, twisted-pair, fiber-optic or 56k lines.

The Model 305 is a portable, self-contained, night vision system for enhanced viewing of dark scenes. It consists of a cylindrical pistol grip enclosure that contains a 3.80-inch, diagonal video monitor, video camera and infrared illuminator, says maker Optical Electronics Inc., Tucson, Ariz. The system is powered by 12v DC and can be charged by an automobile cigarette lighter or by an optional battery pack. The Model 305, which can monitor events and objects at up to 200 feet away in total darkness without detection, can be operated and held in one hand, says the maker.

A 164-page catalog features additions to videotape storage and security product lines from Winsted, Minneapolis. New LAN and file server products with mobile LRx stations featuring L-frame architecture have been added.
