An 8-hour, real-time video tape recorder with a half-size design (9.4x3.8x13. 2 inches) is new from Sanyo, Chatsworth, Calif. The SRC-800 allows two units to fit in the rack space usually taken up by one traditional tabletop-size unit, says the maker. It features eight hours of real-time, 60-picture-per-second recording and playback on a T160 tape. Security features include a built-in time/date generator, series recording for looping two or more units together, and a master/remote eject system. An optional full-feature remote control is available for tape eject protection.

A video alarm system provides video surveillance, multiplex recording, off-site video and audio verification in a single package. InSight, from Vision Systems, Hingham, Mass., features BiSensor, a camera with pre-focused lenses that is designed as a "dual-tech" sensor, incorporating video motion and passive infrared detection. A microphone and an infrared illuminator for seeing in the dark are also incorporated. InSight connects to sensors using a four-conductor cable, and an integral mounting bracket is included.

The model NV-213A-M passive twisted-pair CCTV transceiver allows quick connection onto a camera using a male BNC connector and no coax pigtail, says manufacturer Network Video Technologies, Redwood City, Calif. The transceiver delivers real-time monochrome or color video with up-the-coax-type control signal at distances of up to 1,000 feet when used with the NV-213A as the passive receiver. It also works with other Network Video Technologies active receivers, allowing distances of up to 3,000 feet, says the maker.

Paravision, an integrated, illuminated surveillance system that combines pendant-mounted overhead downlighting with hidden surveillance cameras in a single unit, has been selected as one of the "Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Products for 1998." Paravision manufacturer, Tivoli Industries, Santa Ana, Calif., accepted the award in Las Vegas at the American Gaming and Lodging Summit, sponsored by the Casino Journal.

The V94 eraser can bring peak quality and performance to CCTV applications, according to manufacturer Verity Systems, El Dorado, Calif. The V94, which weighs only 10 kg, can degauss a range of tapes and cassettes quickly - up to 200 VHS cassettes per hour, says the maker. The media to be erased is drawn across the unit's surface using the built-in guide. Using the V94, all traces of previous recording data can be removed, says Verity Systems.

The KD5 miniature dome series has been introduced by Maxpro Systems, a subsidiary of Ultrak, Lewisville, Texas. The series is suited to fixed, fully adjustable camera applications and can be installed in minutes using a standard 4x4-inch electrical box, says Maxpro. KD5 units have smoked, transparent, chrome and gold options for lower domes and trim rings. A range of camera/lens combinations is available, including color, black-and-white, high-resolution and varifocal or fixed lenses. Pendant and flush models are also available.
