The VTT747 video adapter requires no power, converts the 75 ohm video signal to a 100 ohm twisted-pair signal and is NTSC-, SECAM- and PAL-compatible, according to manufacturer Visions Televideo Technologies Inc., Ellicott City, Md. The adapter features wiring distances of up to 800 feet for color or black and white without amplification, and it comes equipped with a male BNC for direct connection to the back of a camera or monitor. Models are also available for farther distances, audio and bi-directional pan/tilt/zoom controls.

CyberDome, a discreet pan/ tilt/zoom dome from Kalatel, Corvallis, Ore., comes in a heavy-duty housing called the CyberDome HD. Suited to applications susceptible to vandalism, the HD features an armored upper housing made of thick, rust-proof aluminum. A dome made of impact-resistant acrylic is secured to the housing with a tamper-resistant key lock. Reinforced aluminum mounting brackets with built-in swivels affix the unit to virtually any hard surface, says the maker. The HD is painted gray and is available with tinted and clear domes.

The Model IK-M43A microminiature CCD camera from Toshiba America Information Systems, Irvine, Calif., which is compatible with 1/2- and 1/4-inch heads, now fits standard C-mount lenses without an adapter. The LTC 0240 Series of 1/4-inch image format full-performance digital color CCD cameras comes ready-to-use, according to manufacturer Philips Communication and Security Systems, Lancaster, Pa. The cameras are supplied with a factory-installed 3 or 6mm lens. With a power consumption of 3 watts, the low-voltage version of the LTC 0240 camera accepts voltage inputs ranging from 11-38v DC to 12-28v AC. The high-voltage version has a range of 85 to 265v AC. For more critical applications, the cameras provide synchronization, line-lock phase adjustment and backlight capabilities.

Surveyor, a mini-dome system with a range of housings, drives, cameras and domes, is offered by Vicon Industries, Hauppauge, N.Y. Available housings include an indoor dome and an outdoor pendant dome with a sunshield, heater and blower, both for a fixed- or variable-speed drive. Three drive mechanisms include two fixed-speed versions with auto-pan or 360-degree continuous rotation, and a variable-speed version. Each drive includes an integral 1/4-inch format camera with auto-focus and a 12x 4-48mm zoom lens that features 8x digital zoom capability in monochrome or color. Smoked, chrome or gold finishes are available. The Surveyor can be used with Vicon's Nova controls or stand-alone through Vicon's intelligent keypad without the need for an external CPU.

The V-VGA300 converts any VGA monitor into a NTSC/PAL monitor, says manufacturer Marshall Electronics, Culver City, Calif. The small, external box allows use of a computer monitor to view composite video signals directly from a video camera or VCR. The device operates with or without a computer, allowing use of VGA monitors to view full-motion video without adding boards or software to a computer.

A PC/video switch allows switching from a computer program to video, and an A/B switch allows switching between NTSC/PAL and Svideo. The device measures 3.6x4.5x0.95 inches, features 720x480 pixels and requires 9v DC.
