The Hotel Northampton is an elegant, full-service hospitality establishment with 106 guest rooms, multiple restaurants, bars, function rooms and ballrooms. It has more than 50,000 visitors yearly. The Massachusetts hotel is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and it is registered as one of the valuable Historic Hotels of America, representing the heritage and development of the nation.

The carefully preserved architectural beauty, historic richness and charm of the hotel brought a unique challenge when it came to deciding on a new security system. Hotel officials eventually chose a wireless IP video surveillance system using XProtect Professional software from Milestone Systems, which helps to manage a mix of camera models from Axis Communications and Toshiba. The system was installed by Viocen Inc.

“The hotel's antique architecture and preservation requirements made it impossible to run coax lines for a traditional analog surveillance installation, so the wireless IP cameras were the only solution,” says Merhdad Sheik, vice president of engineering and clients services for Viocen.

The Hotel Northampton is now well protected with an efficient, cost-effective and easy-to-use IP video surveillance system that suits the special environment requirements and is scalable for handling any future needs.

“We have implemented the new solution for the security and safety of our guests and employees,” says Mansour Ghalibaf, general manager at the Hotel Northampton.
