Intruder Beware
SPOTLIGHT: UltraSensor Intrusion Detection Sensor
The UltraSensor intrusion detection sensor from UltraVision Security Systems provides an early warning perimeter alert before an intruder has an opportunity to enter into a sensitive area. The ruggedized sensor uses ultra wideband (UWB) geophysical analysis technology to pinpoint intruder motion, distance, velocity and mass. It senses motion through solid barriers such as walls, roadbeds, sidewalks and ceilings, and is effectively able to “see” through walls. The system collects only critical data, thus yielding fewer false alarms. Two models are designed to protect high-value, highly sensitive, critical environments such as water treatment plants, utilities, national treasures, embassies and other government and commercial structures. The sensors are resistant to weather, ambient lighting and other disruptors such as falling landscape debris, and they remain invisible to the naked eye. Multi-Channel Relay Receiver
USES DATA COMING FROM WIRELESS SENSORS
The low-voltage relay receiver makes existing control systems more scalable by enabling the addition of multiple self-powered sensors that convert solar power into energy used to send radio signals. They do not have to be wired into the existing systems, and they can send data to the receiver without the use of batteries. When the sensors are tripped or triggered, they send a radio signal to the receiver, which then sends information to the control system. The receiver is available with four or eight channels and is installed by connecting it to the input outlet on the existing control panel. An “ID learn-sequence” is used to assign the sensors to the receivers, thus allowing the receiver to store an association between each sensor and each relay output. Once the sensors are programmed, they can be placed where necessary. The system is compatible with EnOcean's wireless and self-powered sensors. Low Voltage Relay Receivers (LVRX), Ad Hoc Electronics (adhocelectronics.com) Circle No. 14 or visit securitysolutions.com/productinfo.
Wireless Modem
PROVIDES CONNECTIVITY FOR ANALOG DEVICES
The wireless modem incorporates the supplier's IP software manager and the virtual COM port redirector software from Tactical Software LLC to provide wireless connectivity for analog equipment. Using the system, when an analog device attempts to dial a phone modem, the device communicates with the system software, which then interprets the message. The system's IP manager looks up available IP addresses associated with the modem and then sets up a transmission control protocol (TCP) connection, allowing the analog phone to “talk” to the modem. With the system, users can create their own applications that can retrieve IP addresses. It also allows users to create one standard set-up profile and then configure multiple modems within the profile. CDS-9060 Wireless Modem, DataRemote Inc. (dataremote.com) Circle No. 15 or visit securitysolutions.com/productinfo.
Wireless Ethernet Systems
ALLOW SINGLE RADIOS TO ACT AS ACCESS POINTS
The systems include industrial grade 900 MHz and 5.8 GHz non-line-of-sight systems. Both are available in indoor, outdoor and OEM module versions. The systems create a point-to-multipoint system configuration in which a single radio acts as the access point. Up to 16 subscriber units can be mated to a single access point, and up to 12 access points for the 900 MHz system or 58 access points for the 5.8 GHz system can be installed. The resulting scalable architecture can support more than 1,000 Ethernet devices site-wide. The systems can replace data-rate installations where 802.11 systems are underperforming due to insufficient range or excessive interference. Digital Shock Sensor
INCLUDES MAGNETIC CONTACT
The digital shock sensor detects intruder entry through doors and windows and now includes a magnetic contact. The sensor's double reed switches allow the magnet to be installed on either side of the unit, thus increasing location flexibility. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) continually monitors the unit's environment and ensures that only genuine signals cause an alarm. Unit features include a tri-color LED set-up method, latching and first-to-alarm input, a selectable range and an independently selectable comfort and detection LED. Wireless Outdoor PIR Intrusion Detector
INTEGRATES WITH ANY MANUFACTURER'S TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
The passive infrared (PIR) intrusion detector is designed to protect the perimeter of a building and communicate an early warning signal before an intruder breaks into the premises. The sensor creates a narrow 80-ft.-long detection area (40-ft. on each side) and employs two double-layered detection patterns (upper and lower). The unit is battery-powered, requires no complicated wiring and can be easily added to an existing wireless system. BX-80NR, Optex Inc.
