Surveillance Without the Blind Spot

SPOTLIGHT: ImmerVision IMV1-1/3 Panoramic Imaging Lens
ImmerVision's IMV1-1/3 “panomorph” lens is a panoramic imaging lens that surveys an area in 360-degree coverage without blind spots and viewing downtime. The lens' design allows it to be added to an existing standard analog or IP video surveillance system. “Panomorph,” as defined by optical scientists, is a patented wide-angle anamorphic lens that generates and controls distortion, covering at least a 180-degree by 360-degree field of view. This view features an elliptical-shaped image footprint that is larger than the circular footprints of older panoramic technologies such as fisheye and mirror lenses. Both a larger coverage zone and even image distribution on the sensor increase picture resolution where necessary.
Pascale Nini, ImmerVision president, says the panomorph lens fixes the problem of blind spots in video surveillance. “What was missing for a long time with any kind of security camera in terms of the extra component was a feature to reduce blind spots,” she says. “You couldn't see everything because the camera was simply pointing at one surveillance area.” Nini says the panomorph lens enables the user to view hard-to-see areas such as behind and on either side of the camera, thus making it suitable for public transportation and law enforcement mobile surveillance, among other applications.
“The panomorph lens enables 360-degree panoramic video surveillance with a standard CS-mount CCTV video camera on traditional security networks or with a new IP video camera on broadband networks from 480 TVL to 1.2 megapixels,” Nini says. “A fisheye lens on a standard NTSC camera requires up to six times more pixels on its sensors to produce the same resolution.” Circle No. 7 or visit securitysolutions.com/productinfo.
Vandal-Proof Dome Camera
DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND STRONG IMPACT
The indoor/outdoor color mini-dome camera with day/night functions is constructed with die-cast aluminum alloy housing and features a polycarbonate resin dome cover. The camera includes a 1/3-in. CCD imager, 500 TV lines resolution and a vari-focal lens. The camera is dust-proof and waterproof. An optional heater unit allows the camera to be installed in extreme cold weather. Plug-and-Go Ethernet Switch
RECONFIGURES WITHIN MILLISECONDS OF AN INTERRUPTION
The switch system is designed to provide a self-managed optical Gigabit switch for Ethernet applications. Appliances connect with the network through three RJ-45 ports, and the system adapts by auto-negotiating to 10/100/1000 Mbps based on the appliance's requirements. The single-fiber system is compatible with both single and multi-mode cable without a need for new hardware. The supplier's accompanying software adds a sense-and-control capability to the network. High-Performance Video Encoder
FOR LIVE-STREAMING OR RECORDING “AT THE EDGE”
The multi-channel encoder features up to 16 video inputs and accommodates up to four hot- swappable audio/video modules. A RAID5 storage system with a 6 TB capacity can be directly attached to the unit or attached to the network and shared by other encoders and IP cameras. The system integrates with existing fixed and pan/tilt/zoom analog cameras and supports up to 32 independent streams of video. Portable Authentication Device
DESIGNED TO GIVE UNIVERSAL ACCESS
The universal ID combines cryptography and biometrics to convert individual fingerprints into dynamic numbers called Biocodes. Biocodes are random numbers that never repeat, are only valid for a few seconds and act as legally binding digital signatures that can be logged, tracked and audited. Backend server-to-server integration allows the device to be used for building and door access, network login, VPN and Web applications. The generated Biocodes can be used anywhere a password is required, even if no network connection is available. Mobio, Cryptolex Trust Systems Inc. Electronic Safe Locks
D-DRIVE SYSTEM PROTECTS THE LOCK CABLE
The safe lock models feature low-profile keypads with external 9v battery slots. Turning the keypad rings controls lock bolt retraction and extension, and a keypad open/close indicator lets the user know if the safe is secure. The D-Drive system protects the lock within a deep channel that runs the length of the drive spindle and protects the cable from sharp edges on the safe door. An optional bolt position indicator allows the user to tie lock actions to alarms, video surveillance equipment or any relay-activated security device. Foiled Twisted Pair Solution
PLUG-AND-PLAY DESIGN FACILITATES INTERCONNECTION
The foiled twisted pair solution (FTP) includes Category 6 and 5e cabling, patch cords, modular patch panels and information outlets designed to meet safety standards. The modular panel accommodates 24 FTP information outlets, allowing for the terminations of 4-pair FTP cables. A “1U” design maximizes rack space with outlets snapping easily into standard faceplates, surface-mount boxes and consolidation point boxes. Ethernet Alarm Transceiver
FOR RELIABLE ALARM-MONITORING
The Ethernet alarm transceiver is an Ethernet-based addressable transceiver that enables reliable alarm monitoring for multi-building facilities and municipal environments. The system is part of the supplier's Life Safety Event Management System and uses both input-monitoring circuitry and secure supervised Ethernet communication to transmit alarms to a receiving station. The transceiver can interface with a range of fire alarm control panels and leverages existing network infrastructure. Biometric Finger-Scan Reader
ELIMINATES NEED FOR PIN OR KEYS TO GAIN ACCESS
The reader provides flexible security options such as finger-only security in 1:N mode or dual-factor authentication in 1:1 mode with an external Wiegand reader. The self-contained device stores approximately 4,000 finger-scan templates in 1:1 mode, 500 in 1:500 mode and 200 in 1:200 mode. The user interface displays red, green and amber LED tone signals. A Closer Look at Metal Detectors
Threat Detection Camera
USES PASSIVE MILLIMETER WAVE IMAGING
The camera is designed to detect objects made of metals, plastics, ceramics, composites, liquids, gels, wood and other materials that could be used to create explosives. Passive millimeter wave imaging with full-motion video allows operators to identify who is being imaged, what objects are detected on that person and where the object is located. Detection occurs in real-time at standoff distances without requiring the person to stop. It eliminates the need for physical pat-downs.
